Remanufacturing Toner Cartridges Saves Big Money and Landfills

General Information & Background

Toner cartridges are used in laser printers, photocopiers, fax machines, and microphotographic printers. When the toner cartridge is spent, it can be returned to a remanufacturer or the manufacturer to be refilled, refurbished, and cleaned for resale. Popular Cartridges such as the 92298A (LJ4, 4+, 5, 5M), and the C4127X (LJ4000 or LJ4050), are as low as $15.00. These cartridges new from HP are as high as $125.00. The cost savings literally speaks for itself.

The quality of remanufactured and/or recharged laser printer toner cartridges has improved dramatically since these products were first introduced more than ten years ago. High quality remanufactured cartridges now undergo a process that renders cartridges equivalent in performance, print quality and page yield to new models and that meet all original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards and specifications. Moving away from the original "drill and fill" method that created the industry's initial problems, the current remanufacturing process now requires that the cartridges be disassembled and inspected to determine any problem areas. Worn components are replaced with new parts, all sections are completely cleaned, and a fresh supply of toner is added before the cartridge is resealed.

Purchasers should also be aware that using remanufactured products will not affect the laser printers warranty. For example, the industry warranty for Hewlett Packard reads: "For HP printer products, the use of a non-HP toner cartridge or a refilled toner cartridge does not affect either the warranty to the customer or any HP support with the customer."

The Moss Magnuson Act created in the 1970's helps to protect those that feel their warranty will be voided. It states that a manufacturer of any product cannot monopolize its product by requiring them to purchase their supplies. It was created mainly for the car dealers, but for those who want to use another cartridge brand it gives them the freedom to do so.

Product Benefits

The recovery and reuse of toner cartridges diverts millions of cubic feet of non-biodegradable material from landfills. In addition, each recycled laser cartridge conserves the equivalent of 3 quarts of oil. They also offer dramatic cost savings (as much as 60 percent) over OEM cartridges.

Top Five Money-saving Tips For Savvy Toner & Inkjet Cartridge Shoppers

Toner is costly. There’s no way around it. But there’s a few techniques you can implement to keep some of that money in your pocket. The next time your printed documents start looking more grey than black, try our top five money-saving tips.

1. Purchase Compatible Cartridges. Instead of buying genuine manufacturer toner cartridges, give compatible ones a try. These cartridges are made to the same specifications, but are developed by third-party manufacturers. So you still get the same quality, but at a much lower cost.

2. Shop Online. Because online shops don’t require costly storefronts or associated overhead, these companies typically discount products below that of your local office supply shop. So you can usually get a much better deal online.

3. Buy a Toner Refill Kit. You can typically save up to 70 percent on toner and cartridges by using a toner refill kit. These kits include all the guidelines and tools you need to refill toner cartridges yourself. Using a refill kit, consumers can typically get up to three refills before ever having to buy a new cartridge.

4. Use a Mall Kiosk. If you don’t want to refill your toner or ink on your own, you can still save money by using a mall kiosk. They may be able to refill your printer cartridge for you at a reasonable price.

4. Buy in Higher Quantities. Some companies offer discounts on bulk purchases. So stock up and save.
If you’re diligent enough to shop around and use some wise alternatives, your toner and printing expenses can be markedly reduced.

Speed up your printer's output and save money

From www.tonerdealers.com - PRINTING TIPS Newsletter

One Simple Trick To Print Faster AND Cheaper!
______________________________________________________________________

Speed up your printer's output and save money! You can trick an inkjet
into speeding up, and save a few bucks in the process: Turn off the color.
Yep, it's that simple. See, unless color is crucial for your document,
you're wasting ink and slowing down the printer if you output in color.
Don't believe us? Test it... Print a color page, then print it again in
grayscale. To do this, go to Start > Settings > Printers and right-click
on the printer's icon. Go to Properties and find the tab that lets you
change from color to grayscale. Now, print the page again. The file I
tested took more than 2 minutes to print in color; the grayscale version
took only 35 seconds. When you do need color, simply change the settings
back.

PRINTING TIP - From Tonerdealers.com
Expand Your Printer's Allowable Printing Area
Printing the "unprintable"... (no, not forbidden text ;-)
> --------------------------------------------------------------
Most printers have an "unprintable" border area for each page printed.
Check your printer's manual for its minimum settings and make sure they match the settings listed in Windows under "Unprintable Area". Click Start
Settings Printers to open the printer's dialog box. Select your
printer, choose File/Properties, then click the Paper tab. If the settings
are too high, lower them to increase the printable area. **
Don't lower them past what your printer manual calls for. Experiment to get the
printable area you want.

Unmatched Toner Cartridge Quality 20% Less Than OEM

Only Business Express's Eclipse series of OEM-compatible toner cartridges are remanufactured with all new internal components and
offer a guaranty on the cartridge and printer

For business professionals caught between high OEM price and mediocre print and graphic output, there's a solution: Business Express's Eclipse line of compatible laser toner cartridges that meet or exceed OEM quality for 20% less than typical OEM price. While even brand name OEMs display "This cartridge may contain recycled components" on packaging, only Business Express, a leading U.S.-based toner cartridge remanufacturer, uses all new internal components on its Eclipse line of compatible toner cartridges, and offers a guaranty on the cartridge and printer.

To ensure the blackest blacks and sharpest colors on every print job, the Eclipse OEM-compatible toner cartridges use just premium toner and all new internal components on every remanufactured toner cartridge. Because this includes a brand new photoelectric drum, primary charge roller, magnetic rollers, wiper and doctor blades, as well as seals and end foams to prevent leaking, each toner cartridge prints at optimum quality to the end of is life cycle. In contrast, lower quality toner cartridges and even some OEM brands may reuse internal components over and over, diminishing print quality and reliability.

Before Business Express ships any Eclipse toner cartridge, rigorous print tests are conducted to ensure quality. This includes a solid page of black and a series of halftones to make certain that text prints crisp and clear. Color tests of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, including full solid prints and gradations, further ensure that up to 256,000 shades of color appear their best for photos, graphs, and other graphics.

"It's untrue that remanufactured toner cartridges can't as good as OEM or will void the warranty," says Business Express owner Dean Gutch. "By law OEMs can't force you to buy their brand any more than a car dealer can force you to buy their oil filter. We're so certain that Eclipse toner cartridges will meet or exceed OEM print quality that we guaranty not only the cartridge but also the printer."

Business Express remanufactures OEM-compatible laser toner cartridges for most major brands including Hewlett Packard, Brother, Lexmark, and others. In addition to color and black and white toner cartridges, the company offers Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) toner cartridges, suitable by banks to print checks. They also build custom cartridges for those with special needs.

In addition to remanufacturing to satisfy the latest OEM microchip requirements, they ship nationally with next day delivery as well as internationally.
